Checker Board Cake

I always love the look of the Checkerboard Cakes. You usually find them in any baking magazine.
I did not know that you have to buy a kit to make them and found this one at Pampered Chef.
First you mix your cake batters just like the directions say on the box.

Then you put the plastic separator in the first cake pan, and fill the first section with green, the middle with red and the center with green. You have to do that for two out of the three cake pans. The third cake pan will be the middle layer and will be red, green, red.
Bake the cake per the directions, and after cooling, Stack the Green, Red, Green on the top and bottom, the Red, Green Red is in the middle. Frost each layer, then the cake and voila! You have your checker board cake!

I Love U, I Love You Not, I Love You

You would think that a Valentines Day Snack would be easy to pull together - but then you throw in the I Love you factor.

I don't mean, you really "Love Someone", but when you are in 5th grade, just the wrong thing could really damage the rest of your school year!

I am incorporating some candies hearts into my "healthy" Valentines Day Class Snack and as my husband grabbed a handful from the kitchen and sat down to a movie - I literally yelled at him to be careful what he was eating. I ran over and inspected each and every candy pulling out the angels, Top Dog, Fax Me, Cool and Smiley Faces 'cause for a 5th grade class I had to pull out the hugs, kisses and my dears for sure!
